Matching tyre sizes

Measuring out for equal size beds

Room 20 Mrs Travers class are hard at work shifting, rolling, lifting and balancing the tyres. We decided to use tyres as they are not recycled and take up space in landfills. As our garden design was in a Nautilus shell shape(like our school badge) we felt that the tyres would help keep the koru shape. It took some time to match the tyres up and place them - thinking about bed sizes, terrain, safety and visual appeal AND making sure the garden was accesible to all learners. The koru in the middle of the garden was built up with tyres to make a rising footpath which leads to a 'viewing point' at the top! The footpath tyres will be stuffed with crushed milk bottles and gravel to make a solid and VERY ECO feature.
