Work begins!

Down at the garden site work begins! Room 20 helped set out tyres in the design. We shuffled them around ALOT until we were happy with their placement. Tyres are pretty heavy! Right now it looks more like a tyre yard and not much like a garden! Hope this works out! We had HEAPS to clear out and Mrs Christensen managed to get us a garden skip donated by Waste Management. We had a holiday worker bee and lots of families came to lend a hand. Flynn and his dad knocked in all the posts to hold the garden together -what an amazing effort! The kids had a great time filling the skip and shovelling the topsoil.
Mrs Whitehead DP looking glam while working hard!

Digging up the mound of topsoil supplied by Tauranga Topsoil at very good prices!

A big job of filling the skip!

The design starting to take shape! Each garden bed has 4 tyres for the outer wall and wooden planks creating a footpath - to stop plants getting trampled! Now we need some colour!

We had an interesting discovery of a hedgehog friend tucked down deep in the Toi Toi grass. We had a big discussion of what to do with him?!? We wanted to get rid of the grass but it was his home and we were worried he would freeze if we disturbed his nest. The children decided to leave him until Spring and then see about rehousing 'Prickles'.
